What do you guys think? I’m nervous because it has been sitting for a few years but it is cheap at $1200.

Do you wrench and feel like doing fuel system work?

Is the puppy included? If not, CP.
J/K, its probably worth it if everything checks out, but after sitting for a few years I would worry about the brakes, the fluids, the rubber bits, and the fuel tank/pump/lines.

Sitting for a few years? That kind of makes me a little uncomfortable. Even at $1200. I mean, there’s some stuff that would definitely need replaced from sitting. Could be electrical issues as well. Plus a grinding while shifting? Might be simple, might not be. I think you can find a better deal than that.

But if you fix it, you’re still in a Saturn....and not even one of the cool old 1st gen ones.

I’d be wary. Why was it parked for years in the first place? Also, being on grass for
years
is a red flag. Check for rust underneath. Like mentioned elsewhere, brake lines, brake discs and just the floor in general. I can’t imagine the ‘new’ battery is still useful either.

I'd want to know the reason it was parked. Seems strange the owner spent a lot of money on it and then parked it.

Are you allergic to money? This seems like a good cure.

Complete POS. Not even worth $500.

As long as it’s not a CVT, the ION isn’t that bad. Be prepared to replace wheel bearings, front end sway bar links and bushings, rear shocks, and stupid cheap plastic interior stuff constantly. Also, those plastic body panels become seriously brittle in cold weather. If you live anywhere that gets below 30*, watch out. You sneeze too hard on a panel and it’ll shatter. Aside from that, the Ecotech isn’t a bad engine. It does have occasional oil leaks that can be solved with some silicone sealant. The ignition module/coil pack combo craps out and those aren’t cheap. The transmissions, both auto and manual aren’t terrible and not made of glass like the CVT is. If you even think of putting your foot down too hard on the gas to accelerate, the CVT will explode. It’s not a hard car to work on yourself, so if you want a good DIY project car, it’s a good one.
